Christ Community Fellowship
Staff at CCF
Bob Brown
Senior Pastor-Teacher
Bob is the founding pastor of Christ Community Fellowship. He has served church fellowships in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico since 1976. As the Senior Pastor-Teacher at CCF, Bob is responsible for the Spiritual oversight, as well as the major direction, of the church. He is assisted in these two tasks by the church staff and the church council.
There are two great passions in the life and ministry of Pastor Bob. First, the message of “The Christ-life,” which teaches the believer that the Christian life is not doing things for God or religious activity out of love for what Christ has done for the believer, but rather, the Christian life is the life of Christ being lived through the believer by faith (Gal. 2:20).
His second passion is the verse by verse teaching of the Bible, known as expository preaching/teaching.
Pastor Bob and his wife, LaDelle, have one daughter who currently works for the CIA in Langley, Virginia.
Travis New
Assistant Pastor
Travis New lived a life filled with crime, drugs and violence. Though he was raised in a Baptist home, by the time Travis was just 13 years old he was already drinking and taking drugs. This lifestyle soon led him to join a local gang, and he lived his life by taking everything he could've robbing, stealing and smashing anything he thought was in his way.
His life changed dramatically In the 1990s when Travis came to know Jesus Christ, and for the first time in his life he wanted to read the Bible. The challenge then became the fact that he read at a 3rd grade level and had but a 7th grade education. It took time, but as the Lord gave him the strength, he began to learn to read all over again. His appetite for the Word was insatiable and in just a few months he read the New Testament 13 times.
It was during this new period of his life, that Travis felt the Lord calling him to Ministry. He approached his pastor at the time and, with tears streaming down his face, explained how he felt God's call upon his life. He also shared how frightening this was since he had no education to speak of and a tremendous burden of baggage from his 13 years of a crime-filled existence. Though the pastor told him several negative things, the one positive thing the pastor said rang in Travis' heart, "God doesn't call the equipped," he said, "He equips the called."
Travis has since completed the School of Ministry at Calvary Albuquerque, where he worked on staff as a custodian for just over four years. He was a volunteer chaplain at the Detention Center for two years where he taught the inmates Theology and Apologetics. He served his friend and Theology professor, Nelson Walker, for three years as his assistant teacher in Apologetics and Theology. He is currently working to finish his BA in Biblical Studies and is the Pastoral Assistant of Christ Community Fellowship.
Teri Henderson
Pastoral Ministry Assistant
Teri is the Pastoral Ministry Assistant. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Accounting. At Christ Community Fellowship, she assists the Pastor and staff with their ministries and manages the Welcome Center. She is also the Chief Financial Officer at Semitracks Inc. Teri and her husband, Chris, have one son.
Kovette Drier
Communications
The E-Mail Ministry at Christ Community Fellowship (CCF) has been in existence longer than the church itself! CCF began as a very small body of believers who, just before Easter of 2003, began meeting in a barn every Thursday night for a bible study. To complement the dozen or so believers, we had horses munching hay and a peacock who occasionally strutted by. We quickly outgrew this space and moved to a warehouse that summer. It was here that we began passing around a piece of paper and pen so folks could jot down their name and an E-Mail address that we could use to contact them, if need be. Kovette volunteered to be “keeper of the list,” a seemingly easy task. Soon enough the need arose to contact everyone with announcements on a regular basis. This assignment was voluntarily incorporated into “the keeper of the list’s” responsibilities. From the warehouse to a hotel conference center, and from the conference center to our present location, the E-Mail ministry has grown to now include the CCF Quarterly Newsletter, the Communiqué (the list of weekly announcements and prayer requests of the fellowship), and the CCF Directory, the end-product of “the list.”
The focus of Christ Community Fellowship’s E-Mail Ministry is communication in the following areas:
First and foremost, we disseminate the weekly public prayer requests of our believers to the entire church. This serves to closely knit our fellowship together as we raise one another up in prayer before the throne of God.
We communicate information regarding many bible studies, the various educational and social events of our ministries, as well as general announcements for our three church services.
Kovette hails originally from Miami, Florida, but has lived in Canada, California, and New York, as well. Her education includes a BS in Management, and her experience is in healthcare as a medical transcriptionist and general medical records management. Currently, she works in her family’s construction business with her husband. She has a wonderful step-son, a lovely daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandsons. For hobbies, she loves music and puppy dogs!
Kovette was raised in a good, Protestant home, but somehow never reached that one-on-one personal relationship with Jesus Christ until she met and married her husband. Pastor Bob Brown, Senior Pastor of Christ Community Fellowship has been her pastor since before CCF was formed. Kovette is a charter member of CCF, and was baptized in this church on June 18, 2004. This is where the Holy Spirit urged her to settle and to get involved. It has been a matter of being available to be used by God—and watching Him bless her and those around her. She has reaped the benefit of serving others by making very, very dear friends. Kovette currently writes the CCF Newsletter, the CCF Communiqué, and publishes the CCF Directory. In addition, she produces the Sunday bulletin. Her life verse is John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Her favorite psalm is Psalm 121.
Sylvia Tarro
Womens Ministry
Sylvia’s life verse is Esther 4:14 ….and who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?
In her personal and professional journey through the world of politics, military and government service, corporate America and non-profit organizations, Sylvia believes that God had been preparing her for this time. As she turns over the tapestry of her life experiences - covered with so many different colors and knots and random threads - to see the picture God is weaving, it's apparent that it was all in preparation for this time and this place.
God has given Sylvia a passion for encouraging, discipling and shepherding women, and she has been involved in women’s ministry for several years. Her heart is for meeting women where they’re at, and coming alongside them to put their hands in the holy hands of The Shepherd.
Sylvia has been married to wonderful Jim for 13 years. Jim, her two daughters, Tanya and Jamie and their husbands, Paul and Brian - and her two grandchildren, Aaron and Blayne – are her pride and joy.
Jim Tarro
Men's Ministry
Jim's life verse is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world...” Jim knows that even though he is just one minor person among the billions of people in the world who are God's children, that he too is loved by our God. It doesn't get much better than that.
Jim is a first generation American with family roots in Mexico. He began from humble beginnings to end up in corporate America's senior executive levels in both government and private industry. Jim is a patriot and has served in his military roles as well as four decades of supporting roles with the Department of Defense. In his 60s Jim gave up the proverbial career ladder to work as an individual contributor. Today he serves our nation as a government contractor, performing in the role of a program manager and analyst.
Jim feels especially blessed to be one of the original members of Christ Community Fellowship Church. It never ceases to amaze him to watch the Holy Spirit at work within our Body of Christ. Jim has served in several ministries since the founding of CCF and currently serves as the leader of the Men's Ministry. For Jim it is unabashed joy to serve our Lord and King.
Jim has been married to his precious Sylvia for 13 years. He has three children and six grandchildren. Three of his grandchildren are in college – one of them here at the University of New Mexico.
David Sandoval
Worship Pastor
David has been with CCF since January of 2005. He has been involved in leading worship for over 20 years. One of David’s greatest joys is seeing people enter into the presence of God through worship. David is probably most touched and humbled when he witnesses people enter into the holy of holies, where true worship and healing takes place, when our hearts and lives are under complete surrender to God.
David has been married 18 years to his beautiful wife Sheila and they have 2 boys Caleb and Jonah. He loves spending time with his family. Besides leading worship, his family is his passion. He loves having family time whether it’s watching a movie, trying to beat his boys at Super Smash Brothers, or just making his family laugh.
David’s favorite bible verses include Zephaniah 3:17 which says “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing" and Micah 6:8 which says “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
David hopes to be able to help in the training up of worship leaders for the next generation. He has led seminars on worship leading and has written a few original worship songs. If you interested in getting involved in the worship ministry, David would love to talk with you. Send an email to davidsandoval@qwestoffice.net
Jeremy Menicucci
Missions Pastor
Missions ministry carries a special characteristic, the aiding of those who can’t aid themselves. Missions is a calling unlike most callings, it shares the characteristics of something Jesus did Himself; bringing light into dark places.
The concept is the same, as Christians we bring the Light with us only to go and to do as God has instructed. We do this, in response to Matthew 28:19, 20; and also because of James 1:27.
Jeremy was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, where he has lived for the 21 years of his life. He graduated from Eldorado High school in 2004, after which began attending the Central New Mexico Community College (formerly TVI of Albuquerque).
Jeremy became born again sometime at the age of 6 on the front porch of his parents house watching a sunrise. He began attending Christ Community Fellowship before it had a name, and is currently involved in the mission’s ministry. Jeremy’s life verse is found in James 2:18 “But someone may well say, ‘you have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.’”
Cindy Dickson
Children's Ministry
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
We desire to offer a safe and secure place for your children to hear the Truth of God’s Word and fall in love with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our desire is to come alongside parents as they seek to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. With God’s Word as the standard and Christ’s love as the example; we seek to build upon the firm foundation of Christ Jesus. So, as the children grow older and the world’s influences tug harder, they will be able to stand firm in their faith and give an answer to everyone who asks for the hope they have in Jesus.
1John 3:1 “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
Cindy came to a saving knowledge of Christ at a later time in her life giving her the desire to share the love of Christ and the truth of God’s Word with children now! After teaching children in Sunday school and BSF for many years, this is Cindy’s first leadership position. Cindy has two grown children; her daughter Kristy lives in Phoenix and her son Danny lives here in Albuquerque. The Lord has blessed Cindy with a wonderful family and great friends who support and encourage her in all aspects of her life. She is so grateful for the opportunity and privilege to serve the Lord and you at Christ Community Fellowship
